Role-Playing Sivoa

Galactic Age Cults
Once upon a time I had all of this writen down and I was sooo happy... and then I lost it all.
=>_>=

Sivoa has cults. They're a major thing too, because they're kind of like blanket corperations with what they do.

Unlike standard cults, these things actually have some sort of fact to base everything on... and that would be the magic of each.

We'll highlight the Cult of Dragonira for this example.

Now the cults aren't the only source of bussiness in Sivoa, they're more like valid sponsors for smaller companies.

A great real-life example of such is christian-run bussinesses. God may not have a direct effect of the company itself, but god certainly is important to the owner of said company, and he/she may get some funding from the church for what they do.

I will post the details of the cults in this thread as I remember them. If you have an idea for a cultist, drop me an email at heather@dragonmun.com. I might already have a place for them.

Cult of Dragonira

Summary:
The cult of Dragonira would appear very much to earthlings as Satanists. They worship destruction and very much like to partake in it, whether it be inflicted on other's or themselves.

They however are not stupid about it, for they do serve a pretty serious role in society. They're the construction workers.

They build because they know that ultimately they'll get to destroy their creations (or the previous generation's creations anyways). Because of this they are also the finest demolitions experts you'll ever find.

The members almost all have destructive powers at varying levels, which they get from their rituals and practiced beleifs.

Aspect: destruction
Bussiness: Construction and demolitions
Religious text: The book of Mu (void)
Subfaction: Tentai

Religion:
Still working on this, give me a bit of time to detail out the synopsis of their mythology.
They worship desturction and it's goddess Dragonira though.

Dictates:
Follow the laws of the land (those established by the govenrment)

Rituals:
Scarring
There are ranks amongst the members of the cult of dragonira. These are readily distinguished by the placement and number of scars on one's body. All entry-level members are left untouched until as aspect of destruction is matched up to them. They then receive their first scar based on that (either self-inflicted of requested of another). They gain the rest of their scars this way as well, but it becomes more and more difficult as the final aspect they're trying to gain is the one that they are the least in tune with.

Scars:
Face- Betryal
3 scars running paralel to each other, starting at the forehead and going down to cover the left eye. There is a great sadness to receiving this scar for some reason, and it represents depression. A sort of destruciont of the self.

Neck - Awkening.
Two carefully cut vertical slits at the nape and collarbone. This ritual brings about the sudden ability to fling fire or lightening

Torso(front)
A rather large gash starting from the bell button upwards. This ritual bring about the ability to heal incredibly minor wounds on themselves.

Back
Kind of a mirror reflection of the torso scar and is often performed at the same time. It brings about an ability kind of like spidey sense. You can sense other's of a magical nature around you. You can't distinguish their magic, but you know they've got it. Not incredibly handy on sivoa, because magic-users are everywhere, but this ability is great when trying to form a first opinion.

Removal of Tail - Punishment
This is actually more of a penalty for those members who break the law of the land in a manner threatening to one's life (or actually ceasing one's life).

For those who were born without tail they get a severe lashing until their backsides are little more than bleeding tenderized meat. Member witnesses become even more afraid to break the law because they want to avoid this fate, and the criminals inflicted become terrified almost to the point of insanity.

This is not an immediate punishment. It is more of a choice from a very small list:
1.) Life imprisionment
2.) Removal of tail (incredibly painful and disorienting)
3.) Death Sentance (for Mass-murderers and the like)
Subfactions

The cult has only one subfaction, and that is the Tentai (roughly means an astral sphere). No one knows anything about them, including the member's of the larger cult. All anyone knows is that the people who cross them, often dissapear.

(This is an NPC oriented thing. Players should not play Tentai, only GMs.)
(More information on them will be posted later)
